Training for "Silja Line" and "Kazmortransflot"
On requests of "Silja Line" and "Kazmortransflot" the Makarov Training
Centre arranged special training for crewmembers. "Silja Line", the
largest Baltic ferries and passenger vessels operator and manager making
voyages between the capitals if Scandinavian and northern European countries,
in spring, 2005 forwarded 6 groups of navigators to have training on
entering the port of St. Petersburg by vessels "FinJet" and "Silja Opera".
In 2004 five groups of navigators from both vessels had training courses
and resume of this training is connected with the commencement of regular
ferries and cruise passages St. Petersburg - Helsinki and St. Petersburg
- Tallinn - Rostok in spring, 2005. The principal items of the training
course are passing in the Morskoy Canal of St. Petersburg, maneuvering
in the harbour waters while strong wind and during normal weather conditions,
communication of master, watch officer, helmsman with a pilot. Sea pilots
of "Rosmorport - St. Petersburg" take part in these training courses.
The National Maritime Shipping Company "Kazmortransflot" conducts training
courses for crewmembers of its tankers built in Vyborg at the Makarov
Training Centre. The crews of the first tankers "Astana" and "Almaty"
had professional training in a number of specialized courses. The main
purpose of this training in improvement of knowledge and skills on tanker
handling, maneuvering in narrows and open sea, safe cargo handling while
loading and discharging at a shore oil terminal, using of modern technical
aids to navigation and position fixing. Up to the end of 2005 it is
planned to conduct training at the Makarov Training Centre of crewmembers
for three more tankers of "Kazmortransflot" built at the Vyborg Shipyard.
