On
certification of mathematical model of ships for ship handling simulator
The Makarov Training Centre commenced the development of methods of
ships models certification used in simulators. Maritime Administrations
and classification societies effect certification of simulators, including
navigational, in case of which the equipment is certified but not mathematical
ships models. At the same time, mathematical ships model is the main
component of a maneuvering and ship handling simulator.
On the Maritime Training Centre initiative the Russian Register of
Shipping entrusted the Academy with the development of principals and
methods of mathematical ship models certification for a bridge simulator
(full-mission DNV Class A).
The mathematical model certificate will completely determine the range
of modeling tasks and external conditions of operations (wind, swell,
fairway limitations, overtaking and passing, mooring operations etc.)
and the level of compliance of the modeling vessel behaveour to the
real vessel while the same handling and external conditions, and also
area of application of a certified model for a particular training program,
depending on the requirements to adequacy.
Currently the Makarov Training Centre is designing basic certification
requirements to the ship maneuvering features. Additionally, under the
agreement signed by the SMA and "Unicom" in May,2005 the natural sea
trials Primorsk - Rotterdam - Primorsk were carried out on board m/v
"Ligovsky Prospect" belonging to the "Sovcomflot" for improving the
designed methods of ship models adequacy analysis.
