for Deck Officers
There are a number of courses for deck officers
at Makarov Training Centre. Among them RO&P and ARPA, ECDIS, Bridge
Team & Recourses Management, Ship Handling, pilot's upgrade course and
others.
Makarov Training Centre added a set of modern equipment to its "NMS-90"
radar simulator. Four new ARPAs complied with A.823 (19) allow training
up to 12 persons per week and raise training quality level.
In November, 99 the latest version of the full mission bridge simulator
"Navi-Trainer Pro 3300" of "Transas" (UK) was installed. New visualisation
uses 28 models of the ships and 20 sailing areas. In January, 2000 another
3 sailing areas were added - St.Petersburg, Venspils, Bosporus and new
options for debriefing with visualisation use were installed.
Bearing in mind the year 2002 (STCW - 78/95) and requirement of Final
Rule of the Code of Federal Regulation, USA, Makarov Training Centre
have been providing "Bridge Team & Recourse Management" course.
The course covers bridge organisation and performance under stress in
emergency situations, distress situations and human's factor, search
and rescue operations, emergencies and crisis management, communication
and decision making using full mission bridge simulator buoyed channels
and busy ports. "Ship Handling" course combined theory and practice
at following areas: Coastal & Offshore Navigation, Collision Regulations,
Radar Operation on Blind Pillage, Electronic Navigation Systems, Search
& Rescue, Vessel Traffic Systems, Patrol & Surveillance, Mooring operations,
High Speed Navigation, Bridge Watch keeping Procedures, GMDSS Procedures,
etc.
The trainee can see the surroundings from the wheelhouse and from wings
of the Navigation Bridge both in daytime and night conditions, control
the vessel with rudder, thrusters and main engines, use radar/ARPA,
ECDIS, different navigational aids, anchors and tugs. Visibility, wind,
current, wave effect, shallow water effect, interaction and bank effect
are also simulated. Great attention is constantly paid to improve process
and level of training. New equipment is been bought and new versions
of simulators are been installed. Instructor of the Bridge simulator,
Capt. Klimenko V., member of The Nautical Institute (UK) satisfactorily
completed "Ship Handling' course at Warsash Maritime Centre as probation.
All courses are approved by Maritime Administration
of Russian Federation and lead requirements of STCW-78/95 as
well as ISO 9001. .
