English Language Courses for Ratings
Makarov Training Centre offers a variety of the English language courses.
Their basic feature is that they are tailor-made for specific needs of the different categories of trainees.
That is why we form separate groups for navigators and engineers. There are also courses both for deck and engine-room ratings.
When teaching ratings lecturers stress the necessity to form basic language skills and first of all grammar skills.
As our trainees are seafarers special professional topics and terminology are used to form and develop speaking, reading and writing skills.
Normally duration of the course is 100 hours, which comprises 3 weeks of everyday classes, 6 hours a day. Topics of the course and its duration can, however, be changed.
Thus a specialized one-week course for the ratings of the mooring parties was worked out at a request of one company.
This very efficient course enabled the trainees to obtain the knowledge of the English language sufficient to carry out mooring operations.
In a similar way, some other specialized English language courses can be developed.
