Tanker Courses at Makarov Training Centre
There are 3 types of tanker courses at Makarov Training Centre:
- Tanker Familiarization Course;
- Specialized Oil Tanker, Chemical Tanker, Gas Tanker Personnel
- Training; Training on Liquid Cargo Handling Simulator (LICOS).
Our instructors have seagoing experience on board all types of tankers. Some our instructors have been certified in USA and Norway.
The courses are supported by visual aids and measuring equipment.
We use Cargo tank simulator and LICOS to make courses more practical. 1. Tanker Familiarization Course meets STCW 78/95 requirements and is based on IMO Model Course 1.01. The course duration is one week. The course program covers the following: characteristic of liquid cargoes, physical and chemical properties, effect on human life, safe working practices and specific features of the fire-fighting on board tankers. Particular attention is paid to pollution control actions, safe use of protective clothing and resuscitation equipment.
2. All specialized courses meet STCW 78/95 requirements and are based on IMO Model Courses 1.02, 1.04, 1.06. The courses focus on development of practical skills of tanker personnel. Particular attention is paid to emergency situations on board tankers and pollution prevention actions.
3. LICOS training course is a computer based simulator-training course. LICOS has three models of tankers: product carrier, chemical tanker and gas carrier. LICOS enables us to train 8 persons simultaneously. The program of LICOS training course includes the following practical exercises: preparing ship for loading, cargo planing, loading/discharging of tanker, cargo changing, tank washing, ballast operation, practical tasks for searching of ship's systems malfunctions, practical use of trim and stability program, cargo calculation.
